Gunna’s "thought i was playing" from his 2022 album DS4EVER delivers a hard-hitting anthem that blends raw energy with a signature Southern swagger. Produced by the legendary trio of Iweirdo, Mike WiLL Made-It, and Shawn Ferrari, the track showcases Gunna’s signature flow alongside a standout guest appearance from 21 Savage. As the fifth track on the album, it captures the essence of the project’s unapologetic attitude, with a beat that switches between gritty basslines and punchy percussion.

The chemistry between Gunna and 21 Savage shines through in the song’s confident delivery, where verses drop with effortless precision. The production keeps the focus sharp, letting the artists’ voices dominate while the instrumental layers add depth without overpowering. Fans of Gunna’s earlier work will recognize the signature trap influence, but this cut also leans into a more aggressive, almost cinematic edge—perfect for those who crave tracks that demand attention.

"thought i was playing" stands out as one of the standout moments on DS4EVER, proving Gunna’s ability to craft a track that’s both a flex and a statement. Whether you’re into the album’s full run or just looking for a high-energy banger, this collaboration is a must-listen.
