Music: Drunk Texting by Chris Brown

Chris Brown’s 2014 album X (Expanded Edition) delivers a mix of introspective tracks and standout collaborations, and one of its most engaging cuts is the smooth, laid-back "Drunk Texting" featuring Jhené Aiko. Produced with a warm, bass-driven groove, the song blends Brown’s signature smooth vocals with Aiko’s effortless, melodic flow, creating a vibe that’s both playful and intimate. Released as the seventeenth track on the expanded version of X, it showcases how Brown’s songwriting can shift from high-energy anthems to more relaxed, conversational moments.

The chemistry between Brown and Aiko shines on "Drunk Texting," where their voices intertwine over a soulful, mid-tempo beat that feels like a late-night chat turned into music. Aiko’s soothing delivery contrasts nicely with Brown’s confident, conversational style, making the track feel like a natural extension of their individual sounds. While the song doesn’t stray far from the album’s overall R&B and hip-hop influences, its laid-back energy makes it a standout for fans looking for something a little different from the project’s more polished cuts.

With its effortless blend of vocals and production, "Drunk Texting" captures the essence of Brown’s expanded edition—where introspection meets effortless charm. Whether you’re revisiting X or discovering it for the first time, this track offers a refreshing departure from the album’s more assertive moments, proving that sometimes the best songs feel like they were made for the right moment.
